Son took up more advanced positions than B. Fernandes with the former often playing as a support striker. He had more penalty box area touches than the Portuguese international who played different roles under Ten Hag, even operating as a deep-lying playmaker at times which diminished his FPL potential. With the signing of Mount, B. Fernandes might play the deeper role more often, with the former Chelsea midfielder playing in the no. 10 role. It is also unknown how the new Spurs manager will choose to use Son, but the South Korean is more likely to be playing an advanced role than B. Fernandes.
Son's goal threat was ahead of B. Fernandes, the former notched an Expected Goals (xG) tally of 10.16 vs 8.51 for the latter. They took a similar number of shots in the box (47 vs 45), but the creative numbers are where the Portuguese international comes into his own. He attempted nearly double the assists compared to Son (60 vs 118) and notched an 'Expected Assists' (xA) tally of 15.62 with the South Korean international only managing 5.05.
