FPL Announces Official Price Change Predictor for 2026/27

Fantasy Premier League has announced a major new feature for the 2026/27 season, with an official Price Change Predictor being added to the game.

The new tool will help FPL managers identify players who could be close to rising or falling in price, reducing the risk of being priced out of a planned transfer.

For Fantasy Football Fix users, the concept will already be familiar. Our Price Change Predictor has helped managers monitor the transfer market and protect their team value for several seasons.

However, the arrival of an official version represents another significant upgrade to the FPL website and app ahead of the new campaign.

How Will the FPL Price Change Predictor Work?

Player price changes are largely driven by transfer activity across the game.

Players who are heavily transferred in may increase in price, while those being sold in large numbers can fall. These changes can prevent managers from completing a planned move or reduce the amount they receive when selling a player.

The new official Price Change Predictor will use FPL data to monitor the transfer activity surrounding every player.

It will then provide an indication of which players are most likely to rise or fall when the next set of price changes takes place at 00:00 UK time each day.

However, FPL has stressed that the information should still be treated as a guide rather than a guarantee.

Price Change Progress Shown as a Percentage

Following the Gameweek 1 deadline, a dedicated page on the Fantasy website will show every player’s progress towards a potential price increase or decrease.

This progress will be displayed as a percentage.

After an initial calibration period, FPL will also introduce a separate predicted progress percentage, providing managers with an additional indication of whether a change is expected.

A predicted percentage above 100% will suggest that the player is expected to pass the threshold required for a price rise or fall during the next nightly update.

The tool will also use simple labels such as:

• Very Likely to Rise
• Likely to Rise
• Very Likely to Drop
• Likely to Drop

These will be accompanied by green and red indicators, making it easier to understand the information at a glance.

Filters for Your Squad and Watchlist

Managers will be able to sort the Price Change Predictor by the players most likely to rise or fall.

The table can also be filtered to display:

• All FPL players
• Players in your squad
• Players on your watchlist

This should make it easier to monitor both your existing team and any transfer targets without having to search through the full player list.

Price-change information will not be limited to the dedicated predictor page.

Each player’s FPL profile will contain a message showing the likelihood of a price change. Managers will also be able to select a price-change view when choosing their squad or making transfers.

When Will FPL Price Changes Begin?

Managers will not need to worry about price changes immediately after FPL launches.

All player prices will remain locked until the Gameweek 1 deadline at 18:30 BST on Friday 21 August.

The Price Change Predictor will then become relevant once transfer activity begins influencing player prices after the opening deadline.

What Does This Mean for FPL Managers?

The new feature should make price changes more transparent and help managers avoid being unexpectedly priced out of transfers.

For example, a manager planning to buy a £7.5m midfielder may decide to make the move earlier if the player is rated as “Very Likely to Rise”.

Similarly, managers could sell a player earlier than planned if a price fall would reduce the funds available for a future transfer.

However, chasing team value should never be the only consideration.

Making an early transfer can expose your squad to injuries, rotation or unexpected team news later in the week. Managers will still need to balance the potential benefit of avoiding a price change against the security of waiting for press conferences and confirmed availability updates.
