The Fantasy Premier League site has entered its pre-season “updating” phase — a sure sign that the 2025/26 launch is getting closer.
In this article, we’ll examine when FPL is likely to go live based on last year’s timeline, and explore how the Premier League’s new partnership with Microsoft could reshape the fantasy experience.
The short answer? It could still be a couple of weeks.
Although the site is now in its transitional state, history tells us we may be in for a wait. In 2024/25, the initial “updating” message appeared on Monday 24 June. The actual FPL relaunch didn’t happen until Thursday 18 July, a full 24 days later.
Here’s a breakdown of last year’s timeline:
Event | Date | Days Since Start |
---|---|---|
Site entered "updating" phase | Monday 24 June | Day 0 |
Site remained dormant | 24 June - 4 July | 10 days |
Player price reveals began | Thursday 11 July | Day 17 |
Rule changes announced | Wednesday 17 July | Day 23 |
FPL officialy launched | Thursday 18 July | Day 24 |
If FPL follows a similar timeline in 2025/26, the launch could fall between mid and late July — possibly even on Thursday 18 July again. However, in a recent article, we speculated that Friday 11 July 2025 looks like a more likely launch date.
So, while we’re getting closer, a little more patience may still be needed.
This season also brings a major shake-up behind the scenes: the Premier League has launched a brand new website and app, as part of a five-year partnership with Microsoft.
The goal? To deliver a more personalised, data-rich experience for fans, supported by cutting-edge AI tools.
While the full impact on Fantasy Premier League remains unclear, this level of personalisation and AI integration could open the door to smarter, more interactive gameplay in the future — perhaps even real-time tactical suggestions, tailored stats, or draft insights.
Right now, the FPL relaunch appears to be following a similar schedule to last season. But the bigger picture is exciting — the Premier League is clearly investing heavily in technology and fan engagement.
Whether this will lead to significant updates within the FPL platform this season remains to be seen. In the meantime, you can start preparing for 2025/26 with our Preseason Pack.
