Fantasy Premier League managers are growing restless. It’s Wednesday 17th July, and we’re now exactly 29 days away from the 2025/26 Premier League season — yet there’s still no sign of FPL.

Liverpool will kick things off at home to Bournemouth on Friday 15th August, but with no player prices, no game rules, and no launch announcement, the FPL community is starting to ask the same question: Is this going to be the latest launch ever?

To understand how late this year’s launch feels, let’s look at the history of previous seasons:

Even during the COVID-disrupted 2020/21 season, FPL launched 28 days before the opening Gameweek. This year, we’ve only just hit the 29-day mark, with no price reveals in sight.

How Did It Work Last Year In FPL?

Let’s rewind to the 2024/25 season to see how things unfolded:

• Site maintenance began: Monday 24 June
  
• Price reveals started: Thursday 11 July (17 days later)
  
• Rules announced: Wednesday 17 July
  
• Game launched: Thursday 18 July
  

That means last year, by this point, we’d already seen price drops, a rule refresh, and were just one day away from the game going live.

This year? Radio silence.

Why Might the FPL Game Be Delayed?

There’s been no official word from FPL, but there are a few possible reasons:

• Partnerships or new features: FPL recently teased collaborations (like Adobe’s AI integration), which may be pushing timelines back.
  
• Backend changes: Significant updates to game mechanics or UI could delay the rollout.
