Next up in our Elite XI: Team Reveal series is Craig, better known as Copenhagen Wednesday — an elite Fantasy Premier League manager with an impressive 6× Top 10k finishes and 4× Top 5k finishes.
And while his first draft is taking shape, this reveal is all about the long game.
Craig is one of the few managers to lay out his chip strategy this early, and it’s bold, calculated, and packed with flexibility.
“As usual, I’ve spent too much time squinting at the fixture ticker... trying to read the runes — spotting the swing, timing the Wildcard, and talking yourself out of Bench Boosting a team of £4.5m enablers — that never changes.”
Let’s break it down.
“I’ve settled on Wildcard GW8 — not because it’s trendy, but because it just makes sense.”
Craig is targeting Gameweek 8 for his Wildcard. The reasons?
“A fixture shift that favours teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham, Wolves.”
“A downturn for Villa, Forest, Spurs, Everton.”
“Enough data to know who’s real and who’s a Gameweek 1 fever dream.”
According to the Fixture Planner, from Gameweek 8 to 12, Arsenal rank fourth for attacking fixtures — including back-to-back matches against newly promoted Burnley and Sunderland in Gameweeks 10 and 11.
Chelsea sit second, with a strong run that features Sunderland and Wolves at home, plus a trip to Burnley.

West Ham top the rankings. By Gameweek 8, we’ll have seven Gameweeks of data to assess whether new signing Diouf (£4.5m) is as attacking in the Premier League as he was at Slavia Prague. There’s also Füllkrug to consider — if he stays fit and hits the form he showed at Borussia Dortmund, he could be a steal at just £6.0m.
Craig also wants to be free of bench constraints:
“If I’ve Bench Boosted in GW1, I’ll be free to strip the bench and throw cash back into the starting XI.”
In short, GW8 offers everything: a fixture swing to attack, a reset on the bench, and freedom to stop caring about four usable subs.
As for the alternative?
“Could GW13 work? Sure… But I’d rather have them in place by then using transfers, not wait around hoarding a chip for 12 weeks.”
And with 5 free transfers arriving in GW16:
“Why save ammo when the game’s giving you a reload?”
“There’s no getting around it — BB1 is tempting. It always is.”
Craig is strongly considering a Gameweek 1 Bench Boost — provided the cheap enablers look viable.
“Right now, several players in my draft are placeholders — £4.0–4.5m types who might end up nailed, or might end up in the reserves by the time the team sheets drop.”
“If we get the clarity I want, I’m all in. If not, BB2 or BB3 remain on the table.”
His preference is clear — early Bench Boost if it can be done cleanly. But he’s not afraid to wait if needed.
“BB1 is the cleanest option — but only if the cheapies are real and GW2 doesn’t kill the vibe immediately.”
“The Free Hit is a tactical nuke — don’t waste it on a stubbed toe. Use it to break the fixture matrix when needed.”
Craig’s Free Hit strategy is built around chaos control. If he goes aggressive for Bench Boost in GW1, Free Hit in GW2 becomes a live option to reset quickly.
Other potential plays?
“FH4 and FH6 are also options. They let me dance around awkward patches in the early season and target upside without committing long-term.”
Whether it’s to correct a risky start or jump on short-term fixture spikes, his Free Hit is a flexible weapon.
Here’s Craig’s latest draft targeting an early Bench Boost from the Elite XI: Team Reveal tool:
“Several players are cheap placeholders until we get real team news.”
“João Pedro (C) is very much a mood, not a guarantee.”
“The plan is to be BB1-ready if the stars align.”
It’s a draft built for structure, flexibility, and chip optionality. Not every player is locked — but the strategy behind them is crystal clear.
