Fantasy Premier League’s three most expensive players — Salah (£14.5m), Haaland (£14.0m), and Palmer (£10.5m) — all have strong fixtures to start the season.
Starting with these premium options can be wise, as it avoids the need for multiple transfers or hits if any of them explode early.
Using the Assistant Manager feature, two drafts are presented in this blog which allow you to load up on these fantastic FPL assets without too many compromises elsewhere.
3-4-3 has been the classic formation favoured by FPL managers over the years and as the below image from our Fix Assistant Manager manager shows, spending a maximum of £4.5 on any defender can help managers focus funds in attack, while still retaining a strong goalkeeper option in Sels (£5.0m)
With Darlow's (£4.0m) position potentially under threat, Sels can be relied upon to start every week. Only Pickford (£5.5m) made more saves than the Belgian international (120) last season.
As the above image from our AI Rotation Optimiser shows, rotating the cheap defenders according to fixtures still yields a favourable schedule with five matchups against promoted sides over the first five Gameweeks.
Ndiaye (£6.5m), Salah and Palmer all take penalties for their respective sides and are very secure for minutes.
As the below image from our Stats Sandbox feature shows, the Premium Midfield duo were ranked first (130) and second (126) for shots last season.
Only seven midfielders played more minutes than Rogers (£7.0m) last season — his 3,129 minutes were the most of any Villa player. He should remain nailed even when Europa League rotation begins under Emery.
Ekwah (£4.5m) is a budget pick who’ll sit as third sub each week, keeping spend to a minimum.
No forward was afforded more 'big chances' (40) than Haaland last season, while Beto (£5.5m) (19) was also top for the same statistic amongst Everton players.
As the below image from our Fixture Difficulty Ratings shows, Everton are ranked third for 'Attack Difficulty' over the first six Gameweeks which makes the double up on their offensive players a viable strategy.
Welbeck (£6.5m) (16) trailed only Mitoma (£6.5m) (20) for 'big chances' amongst Brighton players and was top for shots (60). With João Pedro (£7.5m) now at Chelsea, the former England international should be on spot kick duties as well.
For FPL managers wishing to keep their defence more robust and focus on the new Defensive Contribution Points (DCP), going four at the back is an excellent option as shown in the below image from our Assistant Manager feature.
Picking Sanchez (£5.0m), Van Dijk (£6.0m) and N. Williams (£5.0m) allows FPL managers to invest in three of the top seven defences for clean sheets last season and both the aforementioned defenders also fare well for DCP.
As the above image from our AI Rotation Optimiser shows, a rotation of Spurs, Forest, Liverpool, Villa, and Palace offers a favourable schedule — nine home games in the first three Gameweeks and eight fixtures against promoted sides in the first seven.
Rogers is downgraded to a £4.5m midfielder (Gelhardt in this case) to free up funds for a premium defence, while still allowing for a strong £6.5m option like Kudus or Ndiaye in midfield.
As the above image from ourPredicted Points feature shows, Man City are projected to score the most goals (12.3) over the first six Gameweeks so starting with Haaland could be explosive.
