The Fantasy Football Prefix - Gameweek 28

3 March 2015

Hours of screen staring, sleepless nights and shouting at your girlfriend to leave you alone because you can’t decide between whether Charlie Austin is worth the -4 points hit due to the fact he plays Arsenal & Spurs. We have 11 Premier League games this week with Spurs & QPR playing each other on Saturday in the extra game.

Aston Villa v WBA

Tony Pulis is a defensive mastermind with WBA keeping five clean sheets in seven PL games under him. It is highly likely they will make it six in eight as they take on Aston Villa who have scored just three goals in their last 12 games. The Baggie’s defensive prowess makes it imperative that you own one of Pulis’ defenders and you need look no further than Joleon Lescott who have scored five times against The Villains, making them by far his most preferred opposition. I couldn’t recommend any Aston Villa player for you to have in your team. It will take a miracle for Sherwood to keep them in the Premier League next season.

Predicted score: 0-1

Hull City v Sunderland

After winning just one in their previous eleven home games, Hull have now won three of their last four and they will fancy their chances against Sunderland having won the last three meetings between these sides. Sunderland are in poor form and the fans are turning against Poyet as with just one win in ten they find themselves dangerously close to the relegation zone. They may need another Connor Wickham inspired great escape this season if they are to avoid playing Championship football next season. After being dropped in the previous game over 8k FPL managers shipped Van Aanholt out only to see him back in the starting line-up for the weekend. Let’s hope Poyet is done with his rotation experiment.

Predicted score: 1-0

Southampton v Crystal Palace

Credit where credit is due, I am not a fan of Pardew and doubt his managerial capabilities however his decision to switch Puncheon into the middle has been a stroke of ‘Mourinho-esque Magic’.  He helped himself to three assists at the weekend in a rampaging performance from The Eagles. Scott Dann helped himself to another goal at the weekend and should be your pick if you want Palace defensive coverage.

Another game, another no-goal show for Southampton’s Pelle. It baffles me how 13% of FPL managers still own him considering he has scored two goals in his last nineteen games, the last of these coming on December 20th.The Saints could really do with him finding his shooting boots as they have scored just one goal in their last five games.

Predicted score: 1-1
