Gameweek 35

In what was an underwhelming weekend for most FPL managers, Craig had his first red arrow in five Gameweeks. With a Gameweek score of 37 points, Craig’s overall rank dropped roughly 1k – a positional change hardly worth mentioning. According to Live Insight – the average score of managers in the Top 100k was 37.5 and so, if your points tally from Gameweek 35 was around this mark, the chances are, you have barely moved.

Brighton’s highly anticipated fixture against struggling Everton ended in a 5-1 thrashing to the home side; the only Brighton goal being Alexis Mac Allister (£5.5m) who seemingly scored by accident. Much to the chagrin of Craig, who switched the Argentinian for Kaoru Mitoma (£5.6m) ahead of the deadline.

Likewise, Craig’s Manchester United triple-up failed to return after their lacklustre display against West Ham; all three of Craig’s assets Marcus Rashford (£7.3m), Bruno Fernandes (£9.4m) and Luke Shaw (£5.1m) returning just 2 points apiece.

Gameweek 35 was a poor one for me, as it was for nearly everyone else. I chose to finally welcome Mitoma into my team, only for the player he replaced (Mac Allister) to inadvertently score with the back of his head. March, meanwhile, was benched, cameoed, and got knacked, which feels like a fitting resume of my season so far.
