In what has been a very frustrating season for Craig, the FPL Gods have served up something of a mixed bag in Gameweek 31, although Craig will gladly accept the green arrow as he moves into blank Gameweek 32.
His decision to bring in Kai Havertz (£7.5m) over Ollie Watkins (£7.7m) in Gameweek 27 continues to haunt Craig with the former blanking 4 out of 6 times in that period, and Watkins going on to amass an unbelievable 53 points in the same time frame.
Likewise, his one free transfer of Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.7m) to Ederson (£5.4m) made perfect sense on paper but backfired on the day, with Kepa bagging 6 points – despite failing to keep a clean sheet – by racking up 9 saves and 2 bonus points. Meanwhile, a spirited 2nd half performance, against a largely dominant Manchester City side, saw Leicester nick back a consolation goal and wipe out Ederson’s clean sheet.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom for Craig, however, with differential Dominic Solanke (£5.5m) continuing to impress in what was perceived to be a difficult fixture against Spurs. The Bournemouth striker bagged 15 points, scoring and assisting twice at White Hart Lane.
Gameweek 31 was a decent Gameweek and a welcome return to green arrows. My last one was in Gameweek 27, which feels like an eternity ago, and my rank is light years from where it was at Christmas. I’ve been in FPL freefall. At 220k with just my Free Hit to go, I’m having to adjust my ambitions to something do-able. Right now, anything under 100k would feel fine, albeit not at all what I was heading toward a month or two ago.
We've helped over half-a-million people become better FPL managers.
