DraftKings' Standout Selections 25/08

Fantasy Football Fix 24 Aug. 2018

With the new season upon us, we are delighted to announce fantasyfootballfix.com have partnered with DraftKings, a daily fantasy sports game where you can win cash prizes. Our partnership has allowed us to negotiate some superb offers for you across the 2018/19 season, and to help you win some cash we will be supplying weekly player recommendations utilising our expert projections and advice. This weekend you will be able to play for your share of over £115,000 in guaranteed prizes!

With a first time deposit of $5 or more, you will receive a free three month premium subscription to fantasyfootballfix.com by clicking on this link. Alternatively, if you subscribed to our pre-season pack this summer you will be entitled to a full refund if you sign up using this link. Plus as a fix user, you will also get FREE entry into your first DraftKings fantasy football contest worth $3.

For those unaccustomed to this fantastic daily cash game, you are required to select eight players with a $50,000 salary cap. The structure is as follows;

GK -- D x2 -- M x2 -- F x2 -- UTIL (utility player)

The utility player can be either a D (Defender), M (Midfielder) or F (Forward) and will score points in the same way as the other selections. However, you will notice your budget has been spread thin, so, this is all about finding a hidden gem that could score well. For example, a defender that is not typically a big scorer but is playing against a team that struggle to score, therefore heightening the chance of (clean sheet, tackles won, passed intercepted etc.) points.

The format allows you the luxury of entering into a variety of contests including beginner tournaments/leagues, head to heads (against one other opponent), 50/50s (where you win if you finish in the top half) and many more.

The full scoring breakdown is as follows:

We’re excited for the contests this weekend, but we must make it clear that we receive a commission from DraftKings. However, we are not employees of DraftKings and do not have any access to non-public info. These are just our personal thoughts on the matchups.

Our recommendations to help you win some cash for Saturday 25th August are as follows:

GK / Etheridge / $4,500

Etheridge is the Goalkeeper to select this week as he will enable you to spread your salary cap more widely. The Cardiff shot-stopper has posted some great DraftKings’ numbers already, averaging 11.5 fantasy points per game (FPPG) in DraftKings. To put this into context, his FPPG is better than Schmeichel, Cech, Pickford, Ryan, Fabianski and Hamer who are other options for Saturday’s contest. With eight saves and two penalty kick saves already (earning a total of 14 points), he has shown that he can produce the goods. Cardiff have so far only conceded two goals in two games, which is encouraging given the fact you are penalised two points for each goal conceded. Our Fix predicted points & stats feature suggests Cardiff have a better chance of a clean sheet than other potential candidates from Arsenal, Leicester, Southampton, Bournemouth, Everton and Brighton, with a 39% chance. For additional informative data on Goalkeepers, see our bespoke DraftKings’ custom stats table dedicated to the position here.

D / Alexander-Arnold / $6,600

Alexander-Arnold looks like the cream of crop for Saturday’s contest outdoing many of his rivals as shown below in the info-graphic of our bespoke custom stats’ table, built for DraftKings’ scoring criteria. The Liverpool right-back eats up a further $600 out of your $50,000 salary cap when compared to the ever-impressive, Robertson ($6,000), but, it is money well spent in DraftKings, given the scoring format. He has managed substantially more crosses over the first two weeks (19 to 2) when compared to Robertson. This earned the English defender 9.5 points versus Robertson’s 1 point, and he has made three more interceptions, with four (2 points) and taken one more shot, with two (2 points). For more data like this you can access this custom stats table built specifically for DraftKings’ outfield players here.

M / Mkhitaryan / $8,600

Salah, who is priced the highest for Saturday’s contest at $11,300, will be the pick of the bunch in DraftKings, so, for the sake of providing something more valuable to our readers, we will review the man we will be selecting alongside him, Mkhitaryan. The Armenian has managed four crosses (3 points), five shots (5 points), won two tackles (2 points), made two interceptions (1 point) scored a goal (10 points) as well as assisted another goal (6 points) in his opening two games. West Ham are very likely to concede according to our predicted points & stats feature with a 92% chance and Arsenal are expected to score 2.74 goals according to the same feature. For more comparisons to other outfield players see our custom stats table for DraftKings here.

F / Ings / $7,200

It is a very tough call between both Ings and Wilson ($7,400) for our main striker in this Saturday’s contest. But the salary cap saving of $200 on Ings just about sways us towards the Southampton man, since we need every penny we can get to squeeze Salah in alongside Mkhitaryan. Ings has averaged more shots per 90 mins (with 4.5) than other standout selections for this contest, as can be seen in the info-graphic below of our custom stats’ table - built specifically for DraftKings’ scoring criteria. DraftKings offers 1 point per shot, and an additional point for a shot on target, so this bodes well for Ings’ owners. Looking across the same players, the English forward is also third for expected assists (0.2) per 90 mins, and joint-third for tackles won (0.5) which provide owners with 6 and 1 point respectively. Ings is a selection that looks good value for money, particularly as Leicester are predicted to have a 67% chance of conceding according to our predicted points & stats feature.
