For those unaccustomed to this fantastic daily cash game, you are required to select eight players with a $50,000 salary cap. The structure is as follows;
GK -- D x2 -- M x2 -- F x2 -- UTIL (utility player)
The utility player can be either a D (Defender), M (Midfielder) or F (Forward) and will score points in the same way as the other selections. However, you will notice your budget has been spread thin, so, this is all about finding a hidden gem that could score well. For example, a defender that is not typically a big scorer but is playing against a team that struggle to score, therefore heightening the chance of (clean sheet, tackles won, passed intercepted etc.) points.
The format allows you the luxury of entering into a variety of contests including beginner tournaments/leagues, head to heads (against one other opponent), 50/50s (where you win if you finish in the top half) and many more.
The full scoring breakdown is as follows:
We’re excited for the contests this weekend, but we must make it clear that we receive a commission from DraftKings. However, we are not employees of DraftKings and do not have any access to non-public info. These are just our personal thoughts on the matchups.
Our recommendations to help you win some cash for Saturday 18th August are as follows:
No Goalkeeper available for selection in Saturday’s contest managed to keep more clean sheets in the 2017/18 season than Lloris, with 15, earning his owners 45 points in DraftKings. He also conceded just one goal a game on average whereas many others including Pickford (1.5), Schmeichel (1.4) and Cech (1.4) that play this Saturday conceded more, which is worth noting given DraftKings deducts two points for each goal conceded. Only Man. United and Man. City picked up more wins than Spurs last season, and with five points on offer for a win and neither team playing Saturday, Lloris, is worth including. Our Fix predicted points & stats feature suggests Spurs have a better chance of a clean sheet than any other team playing on Saturday, with a 60% chance. Leicester’s Pereira really caught our eye in gameweek one and looks like a great value pick to win you some cash in DraftKings. While classified as defender, he played out of position (OOP) versus Man. United last Friday and should keep his place after a fine performance which was capped off with an assist for Vardy’s late conciliation goal, earning him six points for his DraftKings’ owners. The Foxes’ man laid on six crosses which was second amongst all players, and was only beaten by Mahrez’, with seven. This would have earned you a handsome 3.75 points in DraftKings alone. He also managed more interceptions, with two, than other popular choices for this weekend’s contest in Davies (one), and Coleman (one), earning him a further one point. See the info-graphic from our custom stats table below to support the above. For more data like this you can access this custom stats table built specifically for DraftKings’ outfield players here.
The West Ham forward benefits from an “either/or” classification in DraftKings, as you will notice he carries the label “M/F”, so, you can have him as one of your forward selections or midfielders (remember, you select two of each). It was quite a tough afternoon for Marko and his teammates during their 4-0 mauling at the hands of Liverpool last weekend. But, Arnautovic’s 0.24 expected goals, after being substituted on 66 minutes is encouraging, when you consider that he was playing against last season’s best home defence that have added further defensive reinforcements. He also managed to complete 100% of his (17) passes, which could soon curtail into six points for an assist in DraftKings. Expect Arnautovic to kick start his campaign this week against a defensively poor Bournemouth side, with West Ham ranking fourth for goals scored via our predicted points & stats feature, with 1.74, of the teams playing on Saturday. For more comparisons see our custom stats table for DraftKings’ outfield players here.
It took Vardy just 27 minutes to make an impact in the narrow loss to Man. United last Friday, scoring from close range after the ball rebounded off the post. During his short stint on the pitch, roughly a third of the allotted match length, he still managed to rack up an expected goals (xG) total of 1.3, unleashing two shots on goal and one shot on target (SOT), which is encouraging given that DraftKings allocates one point per shot and an additional bonus point for a SOT. He also managed to attempt one assist, so, if deployed from the start against Wolves, which we fully expect, he could easily muster a double-digit score in DraftKings’ Saturday contest.
Average salary per player; $6,325
