As long as the player picks are justifiable, differentials can give you an edge over your mini-league rivals.

No team had a higher xCS than Newcastle (0.82) in Gameweek 1. The Magpies have a decent run of fixtures until Gameweek 10 with the exception of Gameweeks 3 and 5, when they face Manchester City and Liverpool respectively; even here the former Burnley shot-stopper may accumulate save and bonus points even if a clean sheet is unlikely.
