Born in France, Haller signed his first professional contract with Auxerre in June 2011 and made his debut in July 2012. After a two year spell at Utrecht, he was signed by Eintracht Frankfurt on a four year deal in May 2017. He made 31 appearances in his first Bundesliga season, notching nine goals and four assists. His second season was far more successful with 15 goals and nine assists in 29 appearances. He struck up an effective partnership with Jovic and also notched five goals and three assists in 10 Europa League games as well. These performances led to the Hammers making him their record signing after Arnautovic’s departure to China. At 1.90m, Haller is very much a traditional center-forward who acts as a target man and also possesses excellent link up ability. Usually fielded in a two striker system at Frankfurt, he is likely to be used as a lone striker at the Hammers and has an excellent supply line available to him with Anderson, Lanzini, Yarmalenko and Antonio all capable of excellent delivery. At 7.5m, he has been valued 0.5m higher than Arnautovic and the same price as proven Fantasy Premier League (FPL) asset Jimenez. The Hammers have a mixed opening schedule, starting with Man. City at home then away games to Brighton and Watford. They then play two promoted sides Norwich and Aston Villa in gameweek 4 and 5, by which time his adaptability to the English game can be gauged. Initially, a wait and watch approach is suggested as the Hammers’ style of play is vastly different to Frankfurt’s but if he hits the ground running, he could make a mockery of his 7.5m FPL price tag.
