Born in Kingston, Jamaica in December 1994, Sterling started his career at Queens Park Rangers before moving to Liverpool in 2010. After several games for their youth team, he made his senior debut in August 2012 and over 92 league appearances for the Merseyside outfit he registered 18 goals and 21 assists.

Sterling moved to Man. City in the Summer transfer window of the 2015/16 season for a fee of £44 million which made him the most expensive English player transfer at the time. Under Guardiola, he improved significantly as a player with 91 goals over 225 appearances. He won 11 major trophies with his best season coming in 2019/20 when he scored 20 league goals.

Chelsea’s top scorer in the 2021/22 season was Mount who found the back of the net just 11 times. The winger has outscored Chelsea’s top scorer for the last five seasons and can be seen as an upgrade over what Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi and Werner offer. With the transfer of Sterling, Chelsea have significantly increased their goal threat and the 27-year old should feature regularly on their left wing. His versatility means that he can feature across the front-three and his penchant for running behind defences provides a great option to Tuchel. The wide players in the German’s 3-4-3 system are more like inside forwards rather than wingers which means Sterling should get plenty of opportunities to find the back of the net. A price of 10.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) makes things interesting as it is difficult to accommodate him alongside the likes of Salah and Haaland/Kane and he should be a differential for the opening weeks.
