A product of the Sheffield Utd. youth system, Maguire made his debut for their first team in April 2011 but could not help the Blades survive relegation to League One. Having cemented his place in their lineup, he went on to make 129 appearances over the next three seasons for the Blades, scoring nine goals as well as assisting seven. He joined Hull City in July 2014 for a fee of £2.5 million but struggled to nail down his place, making just three appearances as Hull were relegated from the top flight. He made 22 appearances for the Tigers in the subsequent season in the Championship, helping them achieve promotion to the Premier League. The 2016/17 season saw him make 29 appearances notching two goals and two assists but it was not enough to keep the Tigers up. He was voted Hull's player of the year by the fans and the players. Leicester signed Maguire once the Tigers were relegated for a £12 million fee in June 2017 and he played every minute of the 2017/18 season, registering two goals and three assists. Once again, he was awarded player of the season by fans and players alike. His second season with the Foxes saw him make 31 appearances scoring three goals and his further impressive displays with England led to Manchester United making him the most expensive defender of all time for a fee over £80 million. Expected to slot straight into their starting lineup for the gameweek one clash against Chelsea, the centre-back is priced similarly to the rest of the United defence at 5.5m. His considerable goal threat means that he is potentially the best route into the Red Devils' backline and should help them shore up a defence that struggled last season.
