Born in Cardiff, Wales in July 1989, Bale began his professional career at Southampton playing at left-back. He was signed by Spurs in 2007 for a fee of £7 million and after sporadic appearances in the first team initially, he came to the fore under Redknapp in the 2009/10 season, helping Spurs qualify for the Champions League. His hattrick against Inter in the Champions League the next campaign made Bale a global superstar. He registered a total of 17 goals and 16 assists over the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons but under Villas-Boas he hit new heights with 21 goals and nine assists in the 2012/13 season. Madrid came calling the following campaign and signed the Welshman for a fee of £77 million. He scored 55 goals over his first four seasons at the Spanish giants, winning many titles along the way. However, he fell out with Zidane and and has made just 45 appearances for the club over the last two seasons, mostly as a substitute.
By bringing Bale back, Spurs have signalled their intention to compete for the top league spots this season and the Welshman along with Kane and Son should form part of a formidable front-three. The Welshman has been carrying an injury but should be fit to feature after the international break. He might take some time to get to full sharpness due to his limited minutes with Madrid over the last few seasons but once he gets up and running, should be an excellent Fantasy Premier League (FPL) option. A word of caution, he was very injury-prone during his latter years with Madrid so managers need to take note.
