Born in São Paulo, Brazil in April 1997, Jesus signed his first youth contract with Palmeiras in July 2013 after playing for several amateur street football clubs. He made 67 appearances for the Brazilian club, scoring 21 goals. He helped Palmeiras win their first national championship since 1994, and was named Bola de Ouro for player of the season.

Man. City completed the signing of the Brazilian in January 2017 for a fee of £27 million. He had a decent start to life in the Premier League with seven goals and four assists in 10 appearances. Next year this improved with 13 goals and four assists in 29 matches but this dropped the next year with seven goals and three assists in as many matches. The 2019/20 season saw Jesus don the number nine jersey and he enjoyed his best Premier League season with 14 goals and eight assists in 34 matches. The next two years saw his minutes reduced and he could manage just 17 goals and 13 assists in 57 matches. He has been a consistent performer for his national side Brazil as well with 19 goals in 56 appearances over six years.

A versatile player, Jesus was under the shadow of Aguero in his early years at Man. City and was deployed as a centre forward, as an out-and-out striker, as a false 9, as an inside forward, as a winger or as an attacking midfielder under Guardiola. With Lacazette departing, Jesus is likely to take over the mantle of Centre-forward at Arsenal with Nketiah his backup/rotation option. His versatility across positions increases his likelihood of appearing on the team sheet and his history with Arteta at Man. City should prove beneficial to his development. Arsenal have a great run of fixtures to start the season and the Brazil international could prove to be a shrewd Fantasy Premier League (FPL) investment if he can hit the ground running.
