Gameweek 30: Forwards Compared

Fantasy Football Fix 21 March 2024

In this blog, the numbers of popular forward options are compared using the Fix Comparison Matrix for the last six Gameweeks to determine the best picks for the season run in. Averages are used since certain players have played fewer minutes.

Ollie Watkins (WOL)

Watkins dominates the comparison for almost all the metrics, the England international is top for FPL points per game (6.8), goals (0.8), shots (3.3), shots on target (SoT) (2.0) and 'big chances' (BC) (1.2). The Wolves fixture in Gameweek 30 looks like a great one, but Villa will not have any doubles until the end of the season and as the below image from our Fixture Planner shows, the Midlands side are ranked 16th for 'Attack Difficulty' over the next four Gameweeks with away trips to Man. City and Arsenal.

Darwin Núñez (BHA)

Núñez has missed significant gametime over the last six Gameweeks due to injury, with an average of only 60.3 minutes played. Nevertheless, he is joint-top for goals (0.8), assists (0.3) and shots (3.3) per game. He has been rested over the international break and should be raring to go when the league resumes. As the below image shows, Liverpool are second for 'Attack Difficulty' over the next four Gameweeks and also have a Double Gameweek pending.

Alexander Isak (WHU)

C. Wilson has been ruled out for the rest of the season and without any European football or Cup commitments, Isak should be the Magpies' starting forward for the rest of the campaign. He has averaged a healthy 5.3 FPL points per game over the last six gameweeks with an average of 2.0 shots per game. A pure centre-forward, goals are pretty much his only route to points with just 0.3 attempted assists per game. The Magpies still have a double that needs to be rescheduled, which will likely fall in either Gameweek 34 or 37.

Dominic Solanke (EVE)

Ever reliable for minutes, Solanke's returns have been sparse over the last six Gameweeks, but the forward has still managed 4.7 FPL points per game. He is bottom for goals (0.3) but the shot volume of 3.0 shots per game and 1.0 BC indicates that this will turn around. Bournemouth have a kind run of Everton, Palace and Luton right after the international break and a Double Gameweek in either 34 or 37.

Nico Jackson (BUR)

Usually consistently in the Chelsea starting lineup, N. Jackson missed some gametime due to injury, but has been playing regularly over the last four Gameweeks. He has racked up 5.0 FPL points per game over the last six Gameweeks, with an average of 1.8 shots and 1.8 SoT per game. As the aforementioned image from our Fixture Planner shows, Chelsea are ranked top for 'Attack Difficulty' over the next six Gameweeks and they are the only side that still have two Double Gameweeks yet to be scheduled. However, it is very important to mention that N. Jackson is currently on nine yellow cards and another booking would see him suspended for two league games.

What do the Projections say?

Common page configurationrom Haaland for the next four Gameweeks. Darwin is currently flagged as an injury doubt which has seen his projections drop to just 14.3. There is likely to be a double added for some teams in 34 or 37 which would also alter the projections longer term.
